Spyros Argeros Commits to Columbia University for Fall 2027
Spyros Argeros, New York native, has committed to Columbia University for fall 2027. Best 200 breast time: 1:57.76. Columbia finished 4th at 2026 Ivy League Championships. Argeros joins class of 2031.
New York City native Spyros Argeros has officially committed to Columbia University to continue his academic and athletic career starting in the fall of 2027.
Argeros swims for Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics and attends Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School. At Summer Juniors this summer, he finaled in the 200 breast with a time of 2:18.93, placing 23rd. He also swam 1:04.70 in the 100 breast and 2:10.42 in the 200 IM.
In the spring season, Argeros won the 200 breast with a personal best of 1:57.76 at Sectionals in Ithaca. He also swam 55.55 in the 100 breast for second place.
The Columbia men finished fourth out of eight teams at the 2026 Men’s Ivy League Championships. Stephen Zhukov and Zachary Vasser led the team with 71 individual points each.
Based on his best times, Argeros has the potential to make an immediate impact at the conference level. His 200 breast best time sits right on the border of the 'A' and 'B' final while Josh Corn led with 1:52.34.
Argeros will join the Columbia men’s team this fall as a member of the class of 2031. He is the first public commitment for the team.
